Episode 47 – Janet Todd

So what is the only difference between men and women in combat sports? Well according to California based Muay Thai fighter Janet Todd, our guest on this week’s episode of The Striking Corner, “It doesn’t hurt when we get kicked in the nether regions because…we don’t have balls.”

Yup! Eric and Vinny had a great conversation with West Coast and Boxing Works standout Janet Todd. Janet is a very accomplished amateur Muay Thai fighter with tons of skill and more than a few amateur titles to her name.

We discuss women in Muay Thai and Combat Sports, how she balances her career as an aeronautical engineer with a flourishing Muay Thai career, and why Britney Spears is the best music to train to! Check it out!

Episode 46 – Chris Tran

In this Episode of The Striking Corner podcast, Vinny and Eric speak to Chris Tran, who is promoter of The Warrior’s Cup Muay Thai promotion and is Owner and Head Coach of Weapons 9 Muay Thai in Middlesex, New Jersey. Chris has long been a friend of the podcast and he is easily one of the most respected and loved members of the East Coast Muay Thai scene.

A passionate martial artist who only wants to see Muay Thai grow, Chris explains that he is a fan of the sport first and a promoter second. He honestly explains that business has never been his strong suit but regardless he is thankful for the fact that he is surrounded by like minded and more business minded individuals that share his same vision for Muay Thai.

In this episode of The Striking Corner, Eric and Vinny speak with UK Muay Thai Legend, World Champion, and 4-time European Champion, Damien Trainor. Damien gives a lot of insight into the mental game of being a fighter, when it’s best to hang up the gloves, life after fighting, haters, social media, and more! Damien is a legend and has continued to give back to the Muay Thai & Kickboxing community through his work at his own gym, doing seminars around the world, and writing for his blog at DamienTrainor.com.

Episode 44 – Fabio Pinca

It’s 2017 and we are starting off the New Year with an epic episode featuring none other than one of the top Muay Thai fighters in the world and our 2016 Striking Corner Fighter of the Year, Fabio Pinca! In this episode Fabio talks to Vinny and Eric about his success in 2016, his upcoming fight for the Rajadamnern Stadium title, how he got into Muay Thai, and why he favors Italian cuisine over French cuisine. We appreciate the effort Fabio made to have a conversation with us despite English not being his first language. A Champion in the ring and a gentleman outside of it, it was an honor talking to one of the best foreign nakmuays to step into the ring. Enjoy!

In this festive episode Eric & Vinny discuss Christmas, Eric tells a Christmas story, and discusses the growth of The Striking Corner in 2016 and the mentality behind the podcast going into 2017. Also in this episode Eric & Vinny present their “Striking Corner 2016 Muay Thai & Kickboxing Awards”. They pick their favorite fights, fighters, and KO’s of 2016 and argue a bit over the results. In this episode of the podcast Vinny & Eric are joined by Kickboxing journalist Anoop Hothi, also known as K1Anoop. A blogger, writer, journalist, and avid Twitter user, K1Anoop has been covering the Muay Thai and Kickboxing scene in the UK and in Europe for quite some time. A huge fan of K1/Glory rules Kickboxing, we talk to Anoop about the recent Glory Collision card, Enfusion, how promotions can better broadcast their product, and so much more! We also talk a bit about how screwdrivers seem to be the weapon of choice in street fights in the UK, how Eric has never been to a strip club, and other such nonsense.
