It’s 2017 and we are starting off the New Year with an epic episode featuring none other than one of the top Muay Thai fighters in the world and our 2016 Striking Corner Fighter of the Year, Fabio Pinca! In this episode Fabio talks to Vinny and Eric about his success in 2016, his upcoming fight for the Rajadamnern Stadium title, how he got into Muay Thai, and why he favors Italian cuisine over French cuisine. We appreciate the effort Fabio made to have a conversation with us despite English not being his first language. A Champion in the ring and a gentleman outside of it, it was an honor talking to one of the best foreign nakmuays to step into the ring. Enjoy!
In this festive episode Eric & Vinny discuss Christmas, Eric tells a Christmas story, and discusses the growth of The Striking Corner in 2016 and the mentality behind the podcast going into 2017. Also in this episode Eric & Vinny present their “Striking Corner 2016 Muay Thai & Kickboxing Awards”. They pick their favorite fights, fighters, and KO’s of 2016 and argue a bit over the results. Cheesy sound effects and dramatic music included, this is the best awards podcast ever! Enjoy!
In this episode of the podcast Vinny & Eric are joined by Kickboxing journalist Anoop Hothi, also known as K1Anoop. A blogger, writer, journalist, and avid Twitter user, K1Anoop has been covering the Muay Thai and Kickboxing scene in the UK and in Europe for quite some time. A huge fan of K1/Glory rules Kickboxing, we talk to Anoop about the recent Glory Collision card, Enfusion, how promotions can better broadcast their product, and so much more! We also talk a bit about how screwdrivers seem to be the weapon of choice in street fights in the UK, how Eric has never been to a strip club, and other such nonsense. We had fun with this one and lost track of time a bit! Enjoy!
In this episode of The Striking Corner, Vinny and Eric once again bring Muay Thai fighter Gastón Bolaños to the podcast. A native of Perú but now living in San Francisco, Gastón is a star in the US Muay Thai scene and is now looking to take his world class Muay Thai skills to MMA and Kickboxing under the Bellator banner. In this podcast Vinny and Eric talk to Gastón about leading “The Peruvian Takeover” and showcasing the talented fighters that the Peruvian Muay Thai scene has produced and putting them on display for American audiences. Gastón is a down to earth, classy, and just all around good guy whose passion for Muay Thai is without question! We talk about how he wants to use Muay Thai to inspire and motivate those around him, and how in many ways inside the ring he may be “The Dreamkiller” but outside the ring he is looking to make other people’s dreams come true.
In this episode of The Striking Corner, Vinny and Eric speak with New York based professional Muay Thai fighter Brett Hlavacek. Brett is a fighter with over 20 professional Muay Thai fights who has fought for Glory, Lion Fight, Warriors Cup, and more! He recently signed a contract with Lion Fight and will be fighting at Lion Fight 33 on Nov. 18th. Vinny and Eric talk a little bit about everything with Brett including New York rent prices, the Jersey Shore, why Vinny continues to think MMA ruins everything, Lion Fight, Muay Thai rules, and a whole lot more! Brett is a fun guy to talk to and a hell of a fighter, you don’t want to miss this one!
