Episode 48 – Phoenix Carnevale

In this episode of The Striking Corner, Eric and Vinny speak with our good friend Phoenix Carnevale! Phoenix is a passionate follower of all things hip-hop, martial arts, comic books, movies, superheroes, etc. She is an actress, fight commentator, martial artist, fight journalist, and she is also the host of Everlast’s In Fighting Shape podcast.

An avid MMA fan, Phoenix has interviewed top UFC fighters such as Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey, Frankie Edgar, Georges St. Pierre, and many more…in this episode the guys talk about MMA, the culture of MMA, and how Muay Thai and Kickboxing are falling short in the marketing game compared to the seemingly unstoppable juggernaut that is MMA. They also discuss women in MMA and Combat Sports. Phoenix has a lot of great insight and the conversation was great. Check it out!

Episode 43 – Christmas & The 2016 TSC Awards

In this festive episode Eric & Vinny discuss Christmas, Eric tells a Christmas story, and discusses the growth of The Striking Corner in 2016 and the mentality behind the podcast going into 2017. Also in this episode Eric & Vinny present their “Striking Corner 2016 Muay Thai & Kickboxing Awards”. They pick their favorite fights, fighters, and KO’s of 2016 and argue a bit over the results. Cheesy sound effects and dramatic music included, this is the best awards podcast ever! Enjoy!

Episode 42 – Anoop Hothi aka K1Anoop

In this episode of the podcast Vinny & Eric are joined by Kickboxing journalist Anoop Hothi, also known as K1Anoop. A blogger, writer, journalist, and avid Twitter user, K1Anoop has been covering the Muay Thai and Kickboxing scene in the UK and in Europe for quite some time. A huge fan of K1/Glory rules Kickboxing, we talk to Anoop about the recent Glory Collision card, Enfusion, how promotions can better broadcast their product, and so much more! We also talk a bit about how screwdrivers seem to be the weapon of choice in street fights in the UK, how Eric has never been to a strip club, and other such nonsense. We had fun with this one and lost track of time a bit! Enjoy!

In this episode of The Striking Corner podcast, Eric & Vinny discuss the Martial Arts Movie classics such as Enter The Dragon, Kickboxer, Bloodsport, etc…and how they influenced martial artists everywhere. They also talk about the feedback they received from listeners via Social Media about the subject. The guys talk old school Kung Fu movies to new school classics like Ong Bak and more! Plus discussion about Lion Fight 33 and much more!

Episode 37 – Emilio Sparks of The Wrassle Rap Podcast

In this podcast Vinny & Eric are joined by DJ, producer, podcaster, internet personality and now student at Vinny’s Staten Island Muay Thai gym, Emilio Sparks. Emilio is the host of two successful podcasts: Wrassle Rap (Top 20 on iTunes) and The Emilio Sparks Experience. He also works for Eminem’s exclusive Hip Hop station, Shade 45 on Sirius XM. In this podcast Vinny, Eric, and Emilio discuss the problem with the unnecessary number of “rule sets” for Muay Thai and Kickboxing in the U.S., whether or not the tradition of respect and honor in martial arts is dying out, Vinny goes off on MMA as usual, and we discuss the UFC becoming more like the WWE. This podcast is definitely a mixed bag of chaos and we had a lot of fun doing it. Enjoy!

Episode 36 – Cheaters, Narcos, & Fight Talk

In this episode of The Striking Corner, Vinny and Eric discuss Vinny’s upcoming vacation to the paradise island of Bermuda and why he has no interest in anything Muay Thai for 5 days. Vinny continues to disagree with the fact that Eric refuses to watch Narcos on Netflix. Eric gives a little background on his experience growing up in Colombia during the Pablo Escobar era…and because we are of course a podcast about Muay Thai and Kickboxing, we talk Bellator Kickboxing’s recent event in Budapest, Lion Fight’s upcoming show, Muay Thai in the U.S. and fighters who lie about their record to fight amateurs.
